I have had Twitter for quite a few years now, I believe I got it when I was a freshman in high school. I have never really used it much, and only ever interacted with a few friends. I occasionally use it for news and to see people's opinions on different matters, but it has mostly been used for entertainment throughout the years. I believe Twitter would be beneficial in my future career as a teacher because it provides networking opportunities, as well as a teaching community for support, new ideas, or resources.
The digital divide is essentially the gap present between those who have access to new technology, such as computers, phones, the Internet, etc., and those who do not. The digital divide can affect student success in schools because it can create unfair opportunities as not every student will have access to this technology, or not every school can afford to incorporate this technology into their curriculum. Socioeconomic status is a large part of the cause of the digital divide because, obviously, those who are living in poverty or even lower middle class cannot afford the technology, especially with how expensive it can be now. I think pretty much anywhere I teach I can assume that at least one of my students will not have access to these resources, therefore I will not assign any online work that must be done at home, unless the school provides students with the necessary tech such as a laptop or tablet.
One software tool that I would love to be able to implement into my future classroom would actually be Kahoot. I think it is a great way to get students excited about learning material. I have personally been using Kahoot since middle school, and everyone is always so excited to play and try to win by getting the most questions correct. Another software tool that I would like to implement in my future classroom would be Quizlet, more so for Quizlet live. This is basically Kahoot, but students work in groups to try to get the most questions correct. I like Quizlet live because it gives students the opportunity to collaborate with their peers and learn from each other, as well as it allows students to get up and move around the room instead of sitting in desks all day.
